How to remove a background from a product photo
Start with one photo and keep the original. Remove its background, inspect the cutout against light and dark grounds, and repair an edge if needed. Download the finished image or continue preparing it for your store.
Choose one real image
JPG, PNG, or WebP up to 12 MB. The original remains available in this browser session.
One explicit cloud removal
Your browser removes metadata before the prepared pixels are sent to the AI provider for this run.
Inspect, refine, then take the result
Drag the before/after line to inspect the edge. If needed, erase or restore pixels locally before choosing a transparent PNG, white JPG, or custom-color PNG.
Choose a transparent, white, or custom-color background
- Transparent PNG
- Keep the cutout transparent for layouts and overlays. The checkerboard is only a preview and is not included in the download. JPEG cannot preserve transparency.
- White-background JPG
- Place the subject on solid white for a consistent product catalog. Inspect the edge and small product details before downloading; background removal does not restore missing detail.
- Custom-color PNG
- Select Custom background in the result panel, choose a solid color, and download the color PNG. This flattens the cutout onto that color locally, without another AI request.
A standalone remove.bg alternative for product photos
Need a cutout without starting a Canva project? PicReady offers a standalone upload, edge review, and download workflow. Continue with the transparent result to resize, compress, rename, and package product images in the Shopify workspace.
PicReady is an independent product and is not affiliated with Canva or remove.bg.
Questions before you upload
Continue to the Shopify image workspaceIs the background remover free, and do I need an account?
Sign in with Google for one free background removal per account. After that, each successful AI removal uses 1 credit. A one-time $9.90 purchase adds 20 credits, with no subscription. Failed processing returns its reserved credit. Local edge edits and background-color exports use no additional credits.
Is PicReady a remove.bg alternative?
PicReady is a standalone option for removing one image background, refining edges, and downloading a transparent PNG, white JPG, or custom-color PNG. You can continue into product-image resizing and packaging. This is not a claim of identical output quality or a replacement for the remove.bg API.
Can I remove a background without Canva?
Yes. This is a standalone PicReady tool, so you do not need to open a design canvas or create a Canva project. PicReady is independent and is not affiliated with Canva or remove.bg.
Does PicReady save my uploaded image?
PicReady removes metadata in your browser and sends prepared pixels to its AI provider for this removal. PicReady does not store the image on its servers. If you choose Continue to product-image setup, a temporary copy is saved in this browser for the handoff and deleted after receipt. Interrupted handoffs expire after 10 minutes and are cleaned on a later visit; clearing site data also removes them.
What can I download?
You can refine the cutout edge locally, then download a transparent PNG, create a white-background JPG, or choose a custom solid color and export it as a lossless PNG in your browser.
Can I fix an edge after the background is removed?
Yes. Open Refine edges locally to erase leftover background or restore subject pixels with an adjustable brush. Show original reveals the source as a temporary reference without changing your edits. Undo, cancel, and apply all run in your browser without another AI request.
Which images work best?
Use a clear JPG, PNG, or WebP up to 12 MB and 25 megapixels. Keep space around the subject and inspect fine hair, glass, reflections, shadows, and low-contrast edges before publishing. Results depend on the source image; automatic removal may need local edge repair.
Can I remove backgrounds from a batch of product photos?
This background remover processes one image at a time. The separate Shopify workspace handles local batch resizing, compression, naming, and ZIP packaging. Use Continue to product-image setup to pass your current transparent cutout into that workspace without uploading it again.
